Hypericum laricifolium is a native Andean shrub that thrives at altitudes ranging from 2,500 to 4,000 meters above sea level. It typically grows between 1 and 4 meters tall, with scaly bark, narrow, elongated leaves, and bright yellow flowers featuring five petals and a profusion of stamens (Romoleroux et al., 2019).
In the Andean region, this plant is commonly cultivated for ornamental purposes, admired for its vibrant flowers and resilience in high-altitude gardens. Locally, it is also used in mild infusions believed to alleviate stomach discomfort, though it’s important to note that scientific studies have not yet confirmed these medicinal properties (Romoleroux et al., 2019).
