The Moridera is a wild plant species native to the páramos of Ecuador and Colombia, often mistaken for Vaccinium floribundum (Mortiño) due to its similar appearance. It produces purple berries, which may appear darker or black when the plant hybridizes with species from the Gaultheria genus.
Although visually similar to edible páramo berries, consuming Moridera can be dangerous. The plant is known for its toxic and hallucinogenic properties, and ingestion poses serious health risks.
