Cacho de Venado, scientifically known as Halenia weddelliana, is a delicate flowering plant native to the humid grasslands and high-altitude ecosystems of the Andes, particularly in Colombia and Ecuador (iNaturalist, 2025). It belongs to the Gentianaceae family, which is known for species with medicinal and ecological value.
This species is endemic to the region and thrives in the páramos and montane environments, where its graceful, antler-like form gives it the common name "Cacho de Venado" ("Deer Antler").
